If the Scarlet Macaw was a food blogger it would be a pretty boring blog. It would be page after page dedicated to the delights of the almond. In Carate, the gateway little village to Corcovado National Park, there is a little grove of almond trees in between the tourism information building and the airstrip. Macaws gather there sometimes in the hundreds.

It can be difficult to photograph this bird in the jungle. They are seen flying all over the place in pairs, but they rarely seem to perch in a position tenable for a photograph. This is why the Carate almond grove is so great. The trees are low to the ground and it is easy to approach and take shots like this while they are pondering their next almond post on their food blog.
