Traveling Ted is a blog that takes readers along on my adventures hiking, canoeing, skiing, and international backpacking. Many blogs focus on one aspect of backpacking, but I tackle both the outdoor adventure side and international exploration as well.

Wisconsin River canoeing and three more rivers to go

Canoeing the Wisconsin River with three more rivers to go

The Wisconsin River, one of the best camping, canoeing, and just plain beautiful rivers in the world is right here in the heart of the Midwestern heartland. The Lower Wisconsin River Valley is the best part of the river as the last 92 miles from Sauk City to its confluence with the Mississippi River is a canoeing paradise. The river is completely sand bottom for this 90 plus mile stretch and with lower water levels one can float and camp on the golden sand bars.

I just completed a three night three day trip on the river. It is one of my favorite rivers and favorite places. Today I am resting up and will continue the Wisconsin road and river trip with the Kickapoo River tomorrow.

If this type of activity appeals to you, check out Wisconsin River Outings out of Sauk City and Boscobel. They can hook you up with transport and a rental canoe.
