There are golden Buddhas all over wats or temples in Bangkok, Thailand. The Thai capitol has over 400 Buddhist temples within the city limits, and many of these feature some type of statue in honor of Buddha. The most famous is found in the Temple of the Golden Buddha, which features the largest seated golden Buddha in the world. This photo was taken inside Wat Benchamabophit or the Marble Temple.

That’s a great temple and I like the blue background. The Temple of the Golden Buddha is Wat Traimit at the edge of Chinatown. That’s a hefty Buddha, solid gold apparently. At 5 and a half tons it is actually the largest gold statue in the world. Again I say allegedly. I mean, *I* didn’t weight them all.

Thanks Kevin,
I appreciate the information on the other Golden Buddha. I have some pictures of that one and may post later, so I am glad to know where it is and its real name.

This buddha statue is actaully one of the most impressive. Wat Benchamabophit will be #1 on my next thailand travel.
It´s sad to see how many people come to Thailand without ever visiting a Temple/Wat.
