Pitch Lake in Trinidad & Tobago is sulfuric smelling giant parking lot. When I first laid eyes on this eyesore, I thought, where is the WalMart. The place grew on me as it is rather unique. Despite the lack of vegetation, there was an impressive array of bird life surrounding the lake. Vultures and ospreys are especially active on the shoreline, flying overhead, and even sitting in the middle of the lake.

This Pitch Lake is the largest of its kind in the world! It’s actually really cool to walk out closest to the center (watch out for the soft parts) and just stand there real still! Try it!

Sasha,
At first I did not think I would like Pitch Lake as it was quite ugly. But the novelty of the place really grew on me.
