Traveling Ted is a blog that takes readers along on my adventures hiking, canoeing, skiing, and international backpacking. Many blogs focus on one aspect of backpacking, but I tackle both the outdoor adventure side and international exploration as well.

Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest after a blizzard

On February 20th, 2014, the Wisconsin northwoods received 15 inches of snow only two days before the American Birkebeiner cross-country ski race. After racing the Birkie, I drove through the Chequamegon-National Forest on the way to Wausau, Wisconsin for some cross-country skiing at Nine Mile Recreation Area. It was a beautiful drive through the snow covered pines.
