Traveling Ted is a blog that takes readers along on my adventures hiking, canoeing, skiing, and international backpacking. Many blogs focus on one aspect of backpacking, but I tackle both the outdoor adventure side and international exploration as well.

Joshua Tree golden desert

On a recent trip to Stagecoach Music Festival, I had a free morning to experience the outdoor possibilities adjacent to Palm Springs. I went for a four mile hike up a canyon through a slot canyon to a beautiful overlook in the Mecca Hills Wilderness Area. With not much time left before Stagecoach began its Sunday closing festivities, I headed to Joshua Tree National Park. I only had a couple of hours, and most of that time would be spent driving back to Stagecoach.

I did get a chance to get out and walk around a bit, but not to the extent the beautiful national park deserves. I did get a flavor for what the park offers, and it will definitely lure me back to the area for a longer trip in the near future.
