Traveling Ted is a blog that takes readers along on my adventures hiking, canoeing, skiing, and international backpacking. Many blogs focus on one aspect of backpacking, but I tackle both the outdoor adventure side and international exploration as well.

Highlands Hammock State Park

Highlands Hammock State Park ferns inside a cypress tree

It is interesting how nature regenerates itself. In this picture a hollowed out cypress tree charred by fire becomes the perfect place for plant life to thrive. This picture was take from Highlands Hammock State Park in Florida. You can book cheap flights to Florida on Expedia.com and visit the Park. Highlands Hammock is just four miles west of Sebring, Florida, which is directly east of Tampa and north of Lake Okeechobee. Although this state park is a couple hundred miles away of the Everglades, it gives a taste of what the national park is like.
