One of the best parts of travel is meeting other travelers at the guesthouses and hostels along the way. This photo comes from Sidewalk Guesthouse in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Siem Reap is the gateway to the Angkor Wat Temples. Some of the members of this group bonded on a horrible ride from the Thai border on a tiny bus. Members of this crew included four Germans, two Canadians, a couple Italians, and a couple people from France, and me, the one American. We drank Angkor beer and listened to geckos while trading adventure travel stories under the thatched roof.

The place seems to have a very cool/festive atmosphere! I really miss Siem Reap!
I miss it too. Need to get back someday soon.
That setting looks familiar–I think I stayed at this place as well when I was in Siem Reap. And I KNOW I was on the same horrible bus ride from the border.

Hey Daniel,
Yes, the bus ride from the border was an absolute nightmare. I have heard they have since paved that road. Sidewalk Guesthouse is the first guesthouse from the Thai border, so it is a first stop for many buses.
The atmosphere there seems so cool. I will have to go there on tour someday. Awesome photos by the way.
