Traveling Ted is a blog that takes readers along on my adventures hiking, canoeing, skiing, and international backpacking. Many blogs focus on one aspect of backpacking, but I tackle both the outdoor adventure side and international exploration as well.

Richard Bong Recreation Area Wisconsin

A Bong photo from Richard Bong Recreation Area cross-country ski trails

Anyone who has ever driven between Chicago and Milwaukee on Interstate 94 has had a good laugh at the sign near Burlington, Wisconsin announcing the exit to Bong Recreation Area. Since millions of people make that commute, it has to be the most snickered at sign in the world. Very few of those guffaws are replaced by ahhhs as few who drive by visit this park. It is a picturesque park deserving of a look. Next time you drive by and dismiss with only a laugh think about stopping and visiting.
