Traveling Ted is a blog that takes readers along on my adventures hiking, canoeing, skiing, and international backpacking. Many blogs focus on one aspect of backpacking, but I tackle both the outdoor adventure side and international exploration as well.

An empty Mt. Rushmore in the winter

An empty Mt. Rushmore is not too busy when the snow falls

One of the most iconic monuments in America and a staple of every road trip out west is Mt. Rushmore in the Black Hills near Rapid City, South Dakota. Looking for a good time to visit when the crowds are sparse? Consider a trip in the winter. The mountain is gorgeous framed in snow.
