Welcome to Chiang Mai, otherwise known as the travel blogger capital of the world. It is easy to see why this location is such a popular spot for travel bloggers and tourists. It is a big enough city to have an interesting night life yet laid back enough to feel like you are in a smaller city. The countryside is surrounded with adventure opportunities with treks to hilltribe villages, hiking, rafting, and the ever popular riding on an elephant.
When I visited Chiang Mai, I only intended to stay three days. Two weeks later I finally left, and I did not want to leave then either. The last three days I had a ticket to leave and each of those days I woke up and walked to the train station and changed my ticket to the next day.
Many people seek out the beaches after leaving Bangkok, but I would prefer to head north. I recommend you do too.

Can’t beat the food and the vibe. The temperature is quite nice too after the heat of Bangkok and the south.
“Travel blogger capital of the world” haha… Glad to see a city mentioned on your blog, Ted. 🙂 Btw I haven’t been to Chiang Mai, but a trip to Asia is in the works for next year, so who knows.

This is the place for Jetting Around. You might never leave.
I remember a friend telling me about a beautiful night market in Chiang Mai and always wanting to go. Can see why you didn’t want to leave.

The night market is great and also every Sunday the whole town turns into a giant market.
Never been and never really heard of it until I got into this travel blogger world. Why was it so special?

Hard to explain Mrs. O. It just has an appealing laid back vibe combined with great food and many fun activities both in town and outside. The people are amazing as well as is true with most of Thailand.
I’m another travel blogger staying in Chiang Mai now for a while!
It’s indeed a great place with urban life yet with a small town feel. And the longer you spend here the more in love with the city you fall.. it’s not an “obvious” place but I’m sure learning how to appreciate it more and more each day!
