Traveling Ted is a blog that takes readers along on my adventures hiking, canoeing, skiing, and international backpacking. Many blogs focus on one aspect of backpacking, but I tackle both the outdoor adventure side and international exploration as well.

Shoreline American alligator

Shoreline American alligator at St. Marck’s in Florida

At St. Mark’s National Wildlife Refuge in the panhandle of Florida, it is a great place to observe alligators and birds in their natural habitat. You are guaranteed to see many alligators in the canals at St. Mark’s as well as herons, egrets, and even whooping cranes if you are lucky. Part of the reintroduced whooping crane population from Operation Migration call St. Mark’s a home during the winter months.

Seeing an alligator can easily be done if you book package holidays to florida – http://www.bestatfloridaholidays.co.uk/
