Richard Bong State Recreation Area in southern Wisconsin near Burlington is a beautiful park featuring varied landscapes. Prairies with summer wildflowers are interspersed with hardwood forests and wetland areas. This pictures features them all with the prairie in the foreground, a marsh in the middle, surrounded by forest, and Verne Wolf Lake in the distance.
Richard Bong State Natural Area is part of the Wisconsin State Park system. There is a fee system to enjoy all of these parks. For more information on the fees click here. The Wisconsin State Parks do have a reservation system. In order to avoid my debacle, make sure you reserve on busy summer Saturday weekends.
