The main and only land route into the interior of Guyana is the Georgetown-Lethem Road. Unfortunately, there is no bus service that takes travelers down this route, but with hope this will change soon. I have been told that a company will soon offer air-conditioned buses. In the meantime, mini-bus is the only way to go. It takes about 14-16 hours to travel the road by mini-bus and costs around $50.00. One of the highlights of the trip is the Iwokrama Rainforest just north of Annai. This picture was taken from the Rupunini Savannah on a way to a tour into the Iwokrama Rainforest.
Stay tuned,

The hills in the distance is the Iwokrama Rainforest. Gorgeous deep jungle with jaguars and anacondas to name just a few.
A great shot Ted – that gives us an inkling of what lies ahead.

Yes, I would be making a journey into those hills a day later.
Great pic! Just the open road straight ahead. 🙂

Hard to believe this is the main and only highway in the interior of Guyana.
