Traveling Ted is a blog that takes readers along on my adventures hiking, canoeing, skiing, and international backpacking. Many blogs focus on one aspect of backpacking, but I tackle both the outdoor adventure side and international exploration as well.

The 2011-2012 snow season has gotten off to a tremendously slow start in most of Wisconsin and the Midwest. Not areas in Wisconsin enjoyed a white Christmas. Thanks to man-made snow, Trollhaugen Ski Area has been the place to ski in the Midwest so far this year. I drove up for a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed myself on the slopes of this ski area in Dresser, Wisconsin.

Where is Trollhaugen

Dresser, Wisconsin is right on the border of Wisconsin and Minnesota.  The closest big city would be the Twin Cities. It is only an hour from Minneapolis. It is about four hours from Madison and about seven hours from Chicago. One great thing about the ski destination is they stay open late on Friday, so even Chicago skiers can get her in time on Friday for some night skiing.
