Camping along the scenic Jack’s Fork River in Missouri
A favorite early spring trip for canoeing is the Jack’s Fork River or the Current River in Missouri. The two rivers make up the Ozark National Scenic Riverway system in southern Missouri. The water is crystal clear and the riverside is full of scenic limestone bluffs. Day trips are fun, but the highlight of the river is camping along the way on the gravel bars in the Ozark wilderness. Eminence, Missouri is the place to start a Jack’s Fork adventure as there are several canoe rentals in town.

Hi Teddy it’s your old pal Matt last time I saw you we were fishing up Taylor Caynon CO. for trout …good times. I am living in Missouri and will be overnighting on Jack’s Fork with my wife between Alley and Powdermill in June have you run it in June?
I have never canoed it that late. In fact, we have gone down in April and not been able to run it then, but it is totally dependent on water levels. With all the rain we have had around the states recently, I would think this would be a good year to do it.
Great to hear from you my friend. I think about our adventures often. Remember the time we built a raft out of some crazy drums and tried to paddle down Flint Creek to Jewel Park? The trip to Colorado was awesome.
We were like the Tom and Huck of the industrial park, bow fishing for carp and paddling in sludge. I was up the Taylor last summer on a fishing trip but we never slayed them like we did that Spring, man it was cold. So good to here from you my old camping and fishing buddy.
