Angkor Wat in Cambodia is one of the most impressive ancient ruins you will ever encounter. The main Angkor complex, Bayon, Phnom Bakheng, and Ta Prohm are freaking awesome. Don’t forget to take a closer look at some of the finer detail found in the temples besides just the eye catching main temples.
The bas-reliefs are amazingly cool also. A bas-relief is when figures are etched on flat surface and barely more prominent than the wall itself. You can tell from the picture how detailed and intricate the artwork is. What you cannot tell is the vastness of the wall. This tiny picture is just one piece of a long wall completely covered with work from an ancient battlefield in the main Angkor complex.
