Traveling Ted is a blog that takes readers along on my adventures hiking, canoeing, skiing, and international backpacking. Many blogs focus on one aspect of backpacking, but I tackle both the outdoor adventure side and international exploration as well.

Moraine Hills State Park is a super place to ski on Super Bowl Sunday. Sometimes we are on a time crunch, and we do not have all day to ski, hike, or canoe. Evening plans in the city encroach on our ability to adventure travel all day. This does not mean that a day outdoors is impossible.

I did an article for the Downtown Traveler on a similar theme. There are many places to ski, hike, or canoe within two hours away from the city that allow one to drive there, adventure, and drive back to the city in time to experience some nightlife.

This last Sunday was Super Bowl Sunday. The kick-off was not until 5:30pm. I could sit around all day, watch some mediocre basketball match-ups, or I could get into the car and drive less than 50 miles for a cross-country ski mini adventure.

I got to Moraine Hills State Park right around noon and had plenty of time to ski for an hour and then get back into the car and return to the city. I burned a ton of calories to make room for some killer chili.

Sure enough I returned home by 3:30pm and was at my Super Bowl destination just in time to buy some squares and drink some beers. It was a super Sunday of skiing and football.
