Traveling Ted is a blog that takes readers along on my adventures hiking, canoeing, skiing, and international backpacking. Many blogs focus on one aspect of backpacking, but I tackle both the outdoor adventure side and international exploration as well.

Sharing is caring!

There are only 2,500 manatees left in the world and about one fifth of these are Florida manatees.  One of these rare creatures approached my Dad’s canoe on the Weeki Wachee River in Florida.  They are also referred to as sea cows, but as one website stated they should be referred to as seas elephants as they are their closest living relative.

For this picture the animal might have better been referred to as a sea dog as it approached my father’s canoe as if to say “pet me, pet me.”  My dad did not pet him, but he did take the travel Tuesday photo of the week.
Stay tuned,
